Well, I finally know why I still feel like junk still from last week and have a nasty cough that I can't shake. A trip to the doctor yesterday showed I have acute asthmatic bronchitis and early stage pneumonia. The pneumonia wasn't clinically confirmed, but I saw a pulmonologist who said he could hear small pockets of pneumonia that had formed, the only way to confirm it was with a chest x-ray, and that considering I'm 7 months pregnant and he would treat it the same way anyway - he would spare me and Liam the radiation. So I'm on antibiotics with an inhaler and hopefully this will knock it out. I remember I had a horrid cough when I was in labor with Riley, and let me tell you, it does not make for a comfortable situation or effective pushing when you're hacking away.
But, I had my regular OB visit - and things are pretty much looking good. I'm in the clear for the gestational diabetes, my blood pressure is looking great, and Liam's heartbeat was strong and steady. I do have to go for an additional ultrasound in 2 weeks simply because I haven't gained much weight and I am still carrying (and measuring) a bit small. I've been having some Braxton Hicks contractions here and there, which is kind of that ever present reminder (as if the giant tummy doesn't do the trick) that baby is coming soon. I'm so glad that the weather has drastically improved here, and I've been able to open some windows and start airing out the stagnant winter - mentally and physically preparing for an important new season to come.
The kids have been good, they seem to have come even more alive with the springlike weather, and honestly I can't wait for it to be nice outside so I can cut them loose in the backyard and they can burn off some energy! Riley has started calling me "Mom" instead of "Mommy" in the last week, which kind of makes me sad - it just makes him sound so big! I guess I should get used to that now if I have any hope of keeping it together come September when he begins Kindergarten.
That's all I can think of for now - I really hope that spring has arrived wherever you're reading this from.
