Okay, so it's not THAT impressive, I guess, but Nick and I (okay, mainly Nick) just fixed our washing machine! It wasn't draining, and after a little internet research I determined it was probably a pump issue. After a few online diagrams I was able to show him how to remove the front cover and we located the pump. Then we got to bail out what seemed like 100 gallons of water from the wash basin... we had our own little bucket brigade working. Sure enough, when he took apart the pump filter, there was a lone sock of Riley's that had been clogging it up. Put it back together, and we're doing a small test run now to make sure it's ship shape. Sometimes you have to get your hands a little dirty to get the laundry clean! Nothing like the satisfaction of doing something yourself, and exerting a little elbow grease. Reminds me of a recent quote of Thomas Edison's that I heard:
"Opportunity is missed by most because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work."
So as you head into your leisurely weekend, just remember that sometimes the benefits of a little work are far more rewarding than doing nothing! I know, this from the woman who has all but taken to her bed recently with pregnancy aches and pains. Well, it's the thought that counts, right? ;o)
